Watching music videos and online shopping is not productive.
I’ve had that “Gimme More” song my Britney stuck in my head at work the last few days. I got pretty sick of hearing “It’s Britney, bitch” 20 bazillion times, so I figured I’d check out other mainstream dance hits I’ve ignored for the last couple years. I didn’t really get “Promiscuous” last year, but it’s grown on me. I liked two other songs from the same album (”Say It Right” and “Do It“), but I think it’s just because those songs strongly remind me of 80s Madonna. (And since that’s 3 songs I like, I met my personal criteria to actually get the album. Another item on the wishlist…) I’ve also taken a liking to two Justin Timberlake songs, “SexyBack” and “LoveStoned”. I particularly like the video to LoveStoned, so I’ll embed it here to take up space:
I like the visual interpretations of the audio (Justin Timberlake mp3 player visualization ftw), and he’s dancing in a suit, which is always a plus. Unfortunately, the song goes from Michael Jackson rip-off and degrades to boring ballad, at which point you’re forced to stare Justin Timberlake’s un-waveform-ized mug. Rihanna’s “Umbrella” has grown on me as well.
I’ve been seriously contemplating getting a $430 sewing machine. Most basic sewing machines are under $100, but this one has a card slot and can do embroidery along with sewing. I’ve been meaning to get into sewing, and I’m intrigued with the idea of embroidery. But am I, about, $300 intrigued? I can afford it, but if sewing ends up being a bust for me, $430 is a much bigger waste than $100. I’m leaning towards getting it, but what do you think? Time for poll!
Should I get a $400+ sewing/embroidery machine?
- Yes! (100%)
- No, get a cheaper basic sewing machine. (0%)
- No, go play some video games! (0%)

I’ve also been doing lots of wedding research. Conclusion: Everything in the wedding industry is a total ripoff, and I’m not going to have any monies after it’s all over. I’ve been looking at people for day-of coordination (because you know I’m going to have a freaking meltdown if I don’t get someone else to do the work for me on my wedding day), but day-of at MINIMUM is like $600, with the coordinators I like being $1000-$2000 for ONE stinkin’ day. I might have to live with with heart-attack-every-day-before-wedding-day. CRY.
New thing I learned today: Next year, the Xbox 360 is getting another redesigned motherboard, with this new iteration called “Jasper”. This new motherboard will feature 65nm GPU (the main source of current hardware failures) and smaller memory chips, and it will probably be cheaper.
I know a lot of people waited for new heat sinks in later Zephyrs and for the most recent rev, Falcon, that have the new 65nm CPU. I wonder how many will wait another year for Jasper. (I know I will.)
