El Niño, he is noisy
We spent most of our weekend driving around the Peninsula looking at apartments, including yesterday. Monday was the first day of an onslaught of rainstorms hitting the Bay Area. The storm seemed extra violent in the San Mateo hills. When we drove on 92, the rain was deafeningly loud hitting against the windshield. I took this video while we were driving home on 280.
Not as bad as on 92, but still pretty obnoxious.
It stopped raining (and was even sunny!) this afternoon for an hour or two, and I managed to get some errands done in that period. I started laundry while it started to sprinkle, and now there’s thunder, lightning, and a huge downpour from the sky. Maybe I shouldn’t even bother drying the laundry.
New thing I learned today: The ocean-atmosphere climate pattern El Niño was named by Peruvian sailors in the late 1800s because it was most noticeable around Christmas, and “el niño” means “the boy”, which refers to Baby Jesus.
